Best of 2009: Studio

MarynA fabulous update for all of you fabulous people. The cans for comments is going strong and so far we've got 70 comments so far on the blog! Which is awesome. What is even MORE awesome about all of these comments is that I will be buying a can of food for each comment. So far 70 cans! What could be even more amazing than that? Well, the fabulous Tara Lewis of Undersea Gardens in Victoria has made an incredibly generous offer to match my end count and donate to their local food bank. Aren't people awesome.

So, here are my favorites from the studio of 2009. Keep in mind I actually have hundreds of favorites from each... no seriously, hundreds. But it was my personal challenge to myself to be able to narrow it down to twelve. Not really sure why twelve? Twelve days of Christmas? Twelve in a dozen? Not sure, in any case... here are my twelve favorites from the studio. Thanks again for all of the wonderful comments! I'll do my best to keep posting, and keep generating comments and in turn cans. Seriously Shannon!!!

Beautiful bellySeriously? I love these images. How gorgeous is Shannon? This session has been booked for ages, and it wasn't until recently that we realized we were in the same prenatal yoga class. I had such an amazing time creating these images... I feel so fortunate to meet such amazing people. To photograph such milestones in peoples lives, and to get to convey the beauty I see in everything. I know for sure, being pregnant... you don't exactly feel glamorous and pretty all the time (or most of the time), and I can't tell you how much I love being able to show expectant mothers how gorgeous they really are. Shannon, you my dear... are radiant! In the fieldbeautifully pregnantpretty on the fencein the grasspretttty Perfect. perfect

Candace, Dwight and Austin

Austins little faceThere are certain shoots... certain people, that just stick out as down right incredible. To me, this was one of them. I'm not sure if it has something to do with growing a little one myself, but this shoot had me fighting back tears, overwhelmed with beauty, and absolutely in awe of the human body. Specifically the amazing female body. Truly, indescribable. This shoot, will forever be etched in my memories as a favorite. As, will the people. Thank you guys for your trust, your understanding and your ability to be flexible, warm and simply beautiful! Not to mention thank you for driving all of the way from Port Alberni!! Don't these just make you want to be pregnant? lovelight and sweetnesssuch sweetnesslove and belliesbellylightamazingbeautifulstunninggrowing lifebabyperfect Pretty sure this is my favorite. faveswooosh

Danielle and Dustin

There are so many things I could say.

I could say that I've known Danielle since her nickname began as Peanut, and mine was Bubbles (don't ask). I could say that her parents always had the best food in the cupboards while we were growing up, and such a cool house that I loved going to. I could say that we graduated together, that she lent me clothes before venturing out to sea on cruise ships. I could say that she sent me the best care package ever while I was sailing the world.

Or I could just say, that I am so happy that she has found her happiness in the world.

Dustin and Danielle together have created the most beautiful baby belly. I absolutely loved photographing them in Parksville, while they were staying at Tigh-na-mara over the weekend. We toured around a few of my favorite beach areas, and wound up with these images.

Note to those of you with Allergies: there is a field in Craig Bay estates in Parksville, that will knock you senseless. Just ask Dustin, who suffered for 2 days after our session ended on Sunday. All in the name of art Dustin! You win the father to be of the year award!

Amazing Light Look at her eyes in this photo! Beautiful. This one, to me... embodies everything I believe a woman carrying and nurturing human life should look like. You go girl. Carry that baby boy, and do it with pride, not to mention staggering beauty. Such a pretty face! This one is all about beginnings. These two on the beginning of an amazing journey together. Congratulations Dustin and Danielle. Looking forward to meeting the little one!
